In the twinkling of an eye.
Maybe today. Or in a thousand years.
One thing is certain – our journey will end.
I speak not of life, for it endures forever.
I speak of knowing. Knowing.
In this moment, our knowing is . . . bound.
We know all we need to know, but we don’t know all.
We know God, but we don’t know him completely.
We know his Word, but our minds ache with longing to truly know.
To know what he says. And what he means. And what he intends. And what we ought to do in response.
We know truth.
And yet our days are filled with wonderings. Our mouths with shy, thunderous questions.
We grasp for answers.
Not as one who is blind.
But as one with achingly limited sight.
Our knowing is greedy for more.
So we read. And pause. And think. And wait. And read again.
All the while praying. Longing for that day.
When we will know his Word.
All of it. In context. Rightly interpreted. Rightly applied.
When there will be no more questions.
When we will be gifted perfect sight.
When we will know him. And his fullness.
Maybe today?
But if in yet a thousand years, Father, make us not wasteful, but greedy.
For though the boundless knowing is yet to come,
we dare not wait till then to know.
Knowing that is helplessly bound is still knowing.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

It is a beautiful thing when God’s Word inspires us to setting into the depth of it and profound blessings pours from a small seed of grace. This verse always makes me think about the knowing of God and the seeking to know him more. I love how Psalm 42:7 reminds us of the deep calling to know the deep one who calls to our hearts.
Blessed to visit you today!
Happy Easter!

Yes! To be greedy for more of Him! I love the line about ‘shy, thunderous questions.’ :).
