Have you ever thought about the fact that it doesn’t rain 24/7 around the globe? If God can do anything, why doesn’t he make it rain 24/7, just because? That’s what I would do if I were God. “Ha! Look at me! I can make it rain constantly everywhere, just because I’m all powerful like that, and I can do what I want! Tough for you!”
Good thing I’m not in charge of the rain.
Yes, God is that powerful, and yes, he can do whatever he wants. But he chooses that which is loving and good. The timing, size, weight, velocity, and destination of every drop of rain is so calculated because the Lord knows what is best for us.
By his knowledge, the clouds drop down the dew.
Now think back to Creation. How do you think the ocean came to be? The ocean. That greatest mass of water which holds millions upon millions of marvels and mysteries.
By his knowledge, the deeps broke open.
But let’s go beyond knowledge for a second. Perhaps understanding takes it to another level?
By his understanding, he established the heavens.
But let’s go beyond understanding for a second, because you can know something, and understand it fully, and still respond foolishly.
Unless you’re God.
The Lord by wisdom founded the earth.
Wait, wisdom? Not the word I would have chosen. I would have said, “The Lord by strength . . . might . . . power
. . . founded the earth.”
Good thing I’m not in charge of the rain. And good thing I wasn’t asked to write Proverbs 3:19:
The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens;
by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew.

It is so easy to forget that ALL our God does is done in wisdom. He sees the beginning from the end and all that is in between and moves and acts in complete wisdom for each one of us. Amazing and encouraging this morning. May you have a blessed Sunday!

I always love reading Job 36 & 37. It remindes me of just how in control God really is.
Love your post, Lydia, beautifully written.

Indeed His wisdom is too high for me. Oh, that I would learn to simply trust and obey, without second guessing! Blessings!

I am glad you used Understand and Wisdom from the scriptures when God founded the earth. I know He used words too, but unless you have understanding and wisdom to perform what you are setting out to do – – you could have a mess. Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story.
