That’s Just the Way I Am

I need my coffee . . .
I always procrastinate . . .
I see things a certain way . . .
I’m OCD . . .
I’m emotional . . .
I don’t trust people . . .
That’s just the way I am.

Perhaps that’s the way you are, but is that the way you must be?

Yes, God has created each of us uniquely. He builds into our makeup wonderful personalities and a host of natural strengths and giftings. But let’s not confuse God’s good design with our corrupt human nature.

The poor qualities and habits which seek to define us exist only because we’ve let them take residence in us. We’ve shrugged our shoulders, shifted the blame, and turned sin into an achievement. Rather than admit our weaknesses, we’ve proudly worn them as acceptable labels.

May we never settle for identity excuses when growth is possible!

We are his, and he is continually forming us into his likeness. We have been justified, and we are being sanctified. Just check out the Book on your shelf . . .

There, the Lord makes us holy and equips us for holiness. There, our Father calls us his children and instructs us in the way we should go. There, we find truths about ourselves which cause us to boast and truths which cause us to repent.

Though the way of transformation isn’t easy, the Word assures us that we have been transformed and will continue to be transformed as we humbly surrender.

Lord, don’t leave me the way I am, but make me more like you!

  1. Amen!Amen!

That’s just how amazing God’s plan is. Our uniqueness. And through our unique, weakness and strengths is how we praise Him.

Be holy as I Am Holy.

When we are In love with our Father, we do everything to just spend time with Him, to sit and listen, to desire more of Him…. and those earthly things will go dim. He wants us to be victorious, healed, filled with JOY, overflowing with love.

    Mark 16:16-18.

    Yes! a transformation!

    2 Corinthians 12:9-10
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you for MY strength is made perfect in WEAKNESS.” Therefore most gladly boast in my infirmities, that the POWER of CHRIST may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for CHRIST’s SAKE. FOR WHEN I AM WEAK, then I AM STRONG.

  2. Well said! Too often, people want to be accepted for who they are, but if who they/we are isn’t who they/we should be, then they/we should do something about it (by God’s enabling)…..
The best friend isn’t always the one who says nice, encouraging things that flatter us, but often is the one who points out our sins and failings!
