Sounds like a musician’s paradise. Yes, this is Scripture Songs for Worship.
In her unique, refreshing, contemplative style, Malaysian artist Esther Mui composes and performs numerous tasteful songs using word-for-word Scripture texts. She generously provides everything for free online at scripturesongsforworship.com.
Things I love about Esther Mui:
1. She sets larger passages, often entire Psalms, to music.
2. She sets unusual passages, not often sung, to music.
3. She sings with a pure, genuine voice that expresses the cry of her heart. That’s where it’s at, folks.
So you have your choice. Listen to it. Sing it. Download it. Make your own “Favorites” album. Share it. Print it. Grab an instrument and play it. Like it on Facebook. Subscribe to the YouTube channel. Teach it {that’s for you, worship leaders}. Need some Chinese or Hebrew songs? She’s got those, too.
Whatever you do, don’t just sit there. This is happy stuff, trust me. Listen for a few days and you’ll be hooked. I speak from experience.
Here’s one of my favorites to get you started {with dozens more recommendations below}. The video is simple. The music refreshing. And the lyrics a pure consolation. And by “pure,” I mean “pure.”
But I will sing of your power;
Yes I will sing aloud of your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.
Psalm 59

I’ve been listening to this music since Lydia shared it. I absolutely love it! Wonderful melodies that really stick in your head, the words of Scripture set to music, heart-felt, beautiful, inspiring. I plan to sing and someday play the songs in church. It makes me want to be able to write Scripture songs myself. What a blessing.

Thank you for sharing! I am always looking for more Scripture songs that use Bible verses word for word. It’s such a great way to meditate on The word and hide God’s Word in my heart. I’m bookmarking her page and subscribing to her YouTube channel. Yay!
