Meet two people.
An attorney at law.
And a clerk whose job it was to hand-copy the Law.
Both had encounters with Jesus.
The attorney asked, “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
The clerk asked, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”
The attorney desired to test Jesus.
The clerk desired to hear truth.
The attorney rattled off the answer.
The clerk affirmed Jesus’ answer.
The attorney spoke correctly.
The clerk spoke wisely.
See, the attorney knew the Word, but hoped to get around it.
The clerk saw that Jesus knew the Word and there was no getting around it.
The attorney sought to justify himself.
The clerk drew closer to the kingdom of God.
And the answer to their questions was one and the same.
Find out the answer here: Luke 10:25-37 and Mark 12:28-34.

I love this Lydia! Even though familiar with the verses I clicked through and so will many others! Thanks for the unique perspective and great post!

Oh thanks! It was such a neat discovery to me! I didn’t express it as well as I would have liked, but I’m hoping many will look up the passages and check it out for themselves!

I agree with Jill. I think in my mind, those stories were one in the same. How interesting that God tell is twice to love one another in almost identical verbiage. Excellent piece!
