mighty to save {seeds}

My music-listening is 99% Seeds Family Worship these days. I’m slowly working through their 9 albums, and I’ve made it to #4 in ten weeks’ time. Can’t listen any faster.

As of yet, my favorite album is their third, Seeds of Praise. I thought I might have to pull my car over one day. The words hit me like a ton of bricks, and I was overcome. This doesn’t happen to me very often.

It’s a simple song, with only five short phrases and such profound meaning that it still leaves me in amazement at the most obscure moments {though it’s long been replaced in my car with the next album of Seeds goodness}.

Some reflections. Read slowly.

zeph 3.17

The Lord your God is with you. The consolation of all consolations. Wherever I am, He is there. Add to that the fact that He is God and the one and only God. Such a truth should strip me of all worry and fear.

He is mighty to save. The key word here – is. He is mighty. Mightier than any other might. And He uses that incomprehensible strength of His to save. No power is greater.

He will take great delight in you. This doesn’t make sense, because I am nothing. I am filthy. I am worthless. The only explanation is Jesus. Because I belong to Jesus, God takes great delight in me.

He will quiet you with his love. Noise surely abounds in this chaotic, distorted world we temporarily call ‘home.’ In the mass confusion and mess of life, I sometimes feel I would gladly pay a million dollars for some quiet. And here is my God, the One who is with me, and the One who saves, and the One who delights in me . . . always there to quiet me. And it comes in the form of love. So we’re talking about a love that has so much power, it calms every fear. It brings peace that no one can explain. It relaxes and reassures and replenishes. This is true quietness, and this is true love.

He will rejoice over you with singing. Like icing on the cake of the great delight He has in me. You know those people who get so happy, they just start singing? Giddiness overcomes them until they burst out in song? Imagine the Lord God doing that because of you. Because of Who is in you.

The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with his love. He will rejoice over you with singing. Zeph 3:17

The God described here in the days of Zephaniah is the same God today. And He is my God.

Take a listen and soak in the truth. It’s free (Track 8: Mighty to Save). And the chord chart is, too.
